A Milford developer wants to extend Colonial Drive by roughly 750 feet to build seven houses ending in a cul-de-sac. The entrance would be at the road’s intersection with Pine Needle Drive.

The engineering firm representing D & F Afonso Builders showed the Planning Board plans for an open space subdivision Monday night. House lots would be around a half-acre each with 65% of the development — about eight acres — set aside for open space. The engineering firm, Guerriere & Halnon  Inc., also submitted a conventional subdivision plan with two cul-de-sacs and seven house lots sitting on 1.3 to 1.7 acres of land each.

Engineering firm representative Dale McKinnon told the board the builder prefers the open space subdivision.  

The area is within a Natural Heritage and Endangered Species Program area, so the state must approve the project before work can begin.

McKinnon will come before the board at a later date with more information and an answer to the board’s request that the builder consider including affordable or 55+ housing on the street.
