Residents can take a deep dive into details about upcoming work on Providence Street, including the timeline, cost and expected traffic impacts with a newly created website devoted to the project.
The town created the Providence Street Culvert Replacement website ahead of the Select Board’s April 15 meeting, when it will decide whether to open Cemetery Street to two-way traffic during the four-to five-month project.
“The Select Board has had many conversations with subject matter experts, local leaders and residents on the what, why, and when of the Providence Street Culvert Replacement Project. Yet, they continued to hear many of the same concerns and inquiries around the project, specifically the question of one-way versus two-way traffic on Cemetery Street,” Town Administrator Jeremy Stull wrote in an email. “We thought it was important to compile all of the information available in one place so residents could be better informed from a uniform set of facts. Many thanks to Chair Jason Kuter who brought this site to life in such a useful and understandable way.”
The project engineers, Mendon’s police and fire chiefs and the highway superintendent will present their recommendations to the board and answer residents’ questions at the April 15 meeting. The meeting is set for 6:30 p.m. in the upper Town Hall meeting room or residents can join virtually through this link. The meeting agenda will be posted 48 hours before the meeting. Residents may submit questions about the project until April 9 by emailing bosadmin@mendonma.gov.
