Turnout for Tuesday’s primary election was higher than expected, with 21.5% of Mendon’s eligible voters casting ballots. Of the 1,060 who voted — 687 voted Democrat and 373 voted Republican.
Voter participation exceeded that in both the 2022 and 2024 state primaries (18.8% and 15.1% respectively), but fell short of the 33.5% the 2020 primary drew, according to Town Clerk Ellen Agro.
Early in-person voting drew 39 people, which is an average of two voters per hour. Another 546 returned mail-in ballots, 70% through the USPS, and 30% by drop box or at the town clerk’s office, Agro said.
