DESCRIPTION:Mendon in the Civil War \nMendon’s Response to the War of Rebellion (1861-1865)\nWednesday\, November 18 at 6:30 PM\nJoin us to learn more about the Town of Mendon’s response to the Civil War (The War of Rebellion). \nYou’ll learn more about: \n\nThe town just prior to the war and the factors which affected the response\nHow the town responded to the call for soldiers\, supported those soldiers and their families\, and was able to finance the cost\nBrief biographies and service records of some of the soldiers who served\nThe story of the Civil War memorial on Rte. 16\n\nPresented by Dennis LaPlante\nDennis LaPlante is a resident of Mendon and a member of the Mendon Historical Society\,\nthe USS Constitution Model Shipwright Guild and the Nautical Research Guild. A graduate\nof the University of Rhode Island in Archeology\, Dennis’ interests are in local history\,\nespecially the King Phillip’s War\, the Civil War as well as 18 and 19 century ship building. \nThis is a joint program hosted by The Taft Public Library and the Mendon Historical Society \nRegister online at taftpubliclibrary.org
